Part 1. Dominic Frisby records the audacious projections of the anonymous Vigilante Projectionist of 2021. From Parliament to the the Bank of England to the BBC, these irreverent messages shook London
You have to be at least fifty now to have known the English pub of which Witherspoons is a kind of parody. But fair play to Tim Martin for even trying. The pub/local relied on the tied house system abolished by catastrophic ‘free market’ reforms. A system of ownership where the brewery either owned the pub outright or was exclusively ‘tied’ in being its sole supplier, which meant boozers were kept open that as individual units weren’t economically viable.
Hence pubs aka ‘local’ were everywhere. A bit like coffee shops now. Their historic names and insignia reminded the English who they were. What remain are shells. There must have been at least six different breweries serving the northern town where I grew up. Twenty miles away in Manchester they were different breweries whom you’d mostly never even heard of before. In London again they were completely different.
So called free market commercialisation of everything turns out to be the very opposite of what its proponents acclaimed in its name. In 1980, when the norm in England was families living in their own home, or renting from council, in properties that people of higher status can’t afford now on two incomes let alone children, in your local High Street shop the chances were you’d be served by the business owner who’d at least be on the premises.
What was lauded as ‘choice’ turns out to be uniformlty. Chesterton: “Bolshevism and Big Business are very much alike; they are both built on the truth that everything is easy and simple if once you eliminate liberty. And the real irreconcilable enemy of both is what may be called Small Business.”
These projections need a wider audience. On the Mark Dolan Show, on GB News channel, for example. Or the Free Speech Nation Show. Maybe with a commentary by Liam Halligan.
Dom, are you concerned at all by the speed and magnitude of interest rate rises by all the big western central banks? Looking back at previous periods of rate hiking cycles (that were no where near as aggressive as today) the end result was a market crash every time. Correlation isn’t causation. But when the lagged impact lands it could be one helluva punch
Love it. Fraz sounds like a man I could sit in the pub with. Wonder where he went, probably tracked and arrested by Oliver Dowden or the 77th brigade and transferred to a suitable gulag along with every other dissident who believes in free speech and enlightenment. I'd vote for him if he stands for election. Come back Fraz once you get parole.😊
Brilliant. Lifts the spirits to see some fight back
Lol. You've really brightened my day. Hilarious.
thanks!

Thanks. All hail small businesses!
