I’m told that the New York Festivals awards are the Oscars of radio, which is good news if so, as Kisses on a Postcard has been shortlisted for best serialised podcast.
We are in good company. The other shortlisted candidates are all from major production houses with deep pockets and greater resources:
BBC Sounds
Deutsche Welle (German State broadcaster)
MediaHuis Ireland (Ireland's largest media group)
Stuff NZ (New Zealand's largest news website)
Lionsgate Sound (the podcast arm of Lionsgate)
Kaleidoscope Content (New York company)
The other shows are mostly serialised documentaries, so deciding the eventual winner between such different genres might end up being a bit arbitrary, but fingers crossed. I am delighted to have made the list. We find out the winner on on April 18.
If you have not yet listened, I urge you to do so. The way to do so is via your podcast app, eg Apple Podcasts. There are also CDs if you are that way inclined.
The feedback for the podcast has been quite amazing. I have received so many of the most beautiful messages, as well as all sorts of gifts, ranging from hand made cards to pots of honey. The issue remains getting people to listen in the first place, but I keep plugging away.
May 3rd at Crazy Coqs
In other news, there are only about 20 tickets left for my gig on Wednesday May 3 at 7pm at Crazy Coqs in Piccadilly Circus. If you fancy a night of curious, comic songs, in an absolutely splendid venue, you can get tickets here. The full band are all now signed up to play. Hopefully see you there.
Thank you for reading this letter.
All the very best,
Dominic
Absolutely brilliant, Dominic. Congratulations. Such a heartwarming story all the way round! Cheers.
