Edinburgh Festival 2024 - Plus Some Stand-Up
Another lecture with funny bits, some dates and some stand-up
Afternoon,
I’m going to the Edinburgh Fringe this year, as always, and I’m excited to present another one of my lectures with funny bits. This one is all about the history of mining. I think it’s the world’s oldest profession, though the PR departments from other vocational bodies might have something to say about that.
The show is called Shaping the Earth. I’m not quite sure why, but it sounded good at the time. I’ll be delivering it at Panmure House, in the room where Adam Smith wrote Wealth of Nations. So, if you get bored, there is always that to contemplate.
The show is at 2pm from August 2nd to 18th and you can get tickets here.
Musical Gigs
September’s Crazy Coqs gig has sold out and there is just one ticket left for the show on Nov 14. We are trying to add more London dates - and dates elsewhere.
In that regard, we have added a date in Tringe on Saturday July 6.
So the diary now looks like this:
Stand-Up
Finally, here is a minute of stand-up for your afternoon’s entertainment - Bitcoin is money backed by smugness.
Being "cross-eyed" is the last disability it's deemed okay to laugh at (except perhaps for the occasional deaf joke). It's actually horrible being cross-eyed; like any disability, every encounter outside your home requires a stiffening of the sinews, knowing that people feel uncomfortable and it will show in their facial expression; that they'll no doubt make jokes about you behind your back. It can cause double vision which makes life a struggle. If someone chooses to present themselves in a way you find ridiculous, by all means laugh at them. Please don't make jokes at the expense of people less fortunate than you, as if they could be different if they wanted. Nobody chooses to be cross-eyed.
