Adam Smith: Father of the Fringe
Hello, hello,
It has taken us a year, but we have finally completed our film Adam Smith: Father of the Fringe and it will now be screening online as part of this year's Edinburgh Fringe.
The Edinburgh Fringe is one of the most incredible economic success stories of our time. It started by accident in 1947, when eight acts who’d been snubbed by the International Festival rocked up and did their shows anyway. In 2019 it sold more tickets than any other event in the world that year.
How did it all happen?
Father of the Fringe explains all. It features some of the Fringe’s best-known comedians, including Jimmy Carr, Henning Wehn, Shazia Mirza, Arthur Smith and Al Murray, is written and presented by your truly, and will give you exclusive insight into the life and philosophies of Adam Smith. The Fringe was the economic realisation of everything the Enlightenment philosopher argued for.
It's an excellent film, shot in the year the Fringe was cancelled, and director, Alex Webster, and I are very proud of it. I urge you all to watch.
See you soon.
Best
Dominic
