Adam Smith: Father of the Fringe
Afternoon all,
The YouTube premiere of our feature documentary Adam Smith: Father of the Fringe will take place this Sunday evening at 7pm and you are invited to join. I hope you can make it.
We screened the film the other day at the IEA and it garnered an extraordinarily positive response. I think you will find it very inspiring.
The Edinburgh Fringe is one of the most incredible economic success stories of our time. It started by accident in 1947, when eight acts who’d been snubbed by the International Festival rocked up and did their shows anyway. In 2019 it sold more tickets than any other event in the world that year.
How did it all happen?
Adam Smith: Father of the Fringe explains all. It features some of the Fringe’s best-known comedians, including Jimmy Carr, Henning Wehn, Shazia Mirza, Arthur Smith and Al Murray, is written and presented by your truly, and will give you exclusive insight into the life and philosophies of Adam Smith. The Fringe was the economic realisation of everything the Enlightenment philosopher argued for.
Director, Alex Webster, and I are very proud of it. I hope you can make it for the premiere. If you can't fear not, the film will remain on YouTube thereafter, so you'll still be able to watch. We'll leave it on there until some broadcaster with deep pockets wants to broadcast it.
Enjoy the rest of the day.
See you soon
Dominic
